Recurrent Laryngeal Papillomatosis (RRP).mpglaryngeal papillomatosis is caused by human papillomavirus virus usually of subtypes 6 and 11. it usually presents with hoarseness or symptoms of airway obstruction. as compared to the adult onset, the juvenile type are generally more aggressive and requires more frequent surgical intervention to relief the airway. the mainstay of treatment is by periodic removal and amongst surgical techniques currently being practice include carbon dioxide or pulse-dye lasers, microdebrider, and by using microsurgical instruments. antiviral agent like cidofovir and interferon therapy are indicated in selected cases. in some patient, the disease might go into remission. however, more distal involvement is possible and there is risk of malignant degeneration to squamous cell carcinoma in long-standing cases. this video shows laryngeal papillomatosis in an adult which has involved both the true and false vocal folds bilaterally. it had caused significant voice change with stridor needing surgical removal by using carbon dioxide laser....
